Edge - Conveys Ford's Bold, Innovative American Design

Ford Motor Co. has unleashed an important addition to the Ford clan. The latest model from the car maker exudes the bold American design that is purely Ford. The most recent version of Ford Edge is given all-new engine. The 3.5-liter V-6 generates up to 250 horsepower. Its innovative aspect includes the industry-leading Advance Trac with Roll Stability Control (RSC), panoramic Vista Roof and advanced safety features.

Ford Edge, which was based on Mazda 6 architecture, also features MacPherson strut suspension, all-around anti-lock disc brakes power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, multi-link arrangement with anti-roll bar and coil springs, and seventeen-inch aluminum wheels. However, SEL and SEL Plus come with 2 types of eighteen-inch wheels. Said model uses the underpinnings of a car not a truck. This made it a more rigid SUV but with better handling and ride.

"Edge underscores the bold, American design direction for all Ford vehicles going forward," says Mark Fields, president, The Americas, Ford Motor Company. "Edge also is packed with Ford innovation – from its panoramic glass roof and laptop-friendly center console to fuel-saving engine and advanced safety features. We expect Edge to make waves in the hot crossover market this year just like the Fusion did for midsize cars last year."

"Edge is not an off-road adventure vehicle, and it doesn’t look like one," added Peter Horbury, executive director, North America Design. "The inspiration for the Edge is contemporary design and an adventurous state of mind."

Ford Edge is the company's first entry to the burgeoning CUV segment. The automaker is experiencing sales turmoil. In fact, aftermarket Ford Freestyle parts and units, including those of Fusion's and Five Hundred's, muster lesser sales compared to that of Taurus.

Ford management sets forth the most recent Edge to compete tightly with high hopes. In fact, it is said to prove Ford's capability in stealing a striking slice out of the automotive market shares. Edge rivals include Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-7 and Lincoln MKX.
