Rover’s 2007 Defender, Intact yet Refined

Land Rover recently released the official information of its most recent Defender, whose roots date back to 1948. Defender is an iconic shaped vehicle which is famous for its extraordinary off-road performance. Off-road driving is said to be 100% fir for Land Rover Defender. Nonetheless, said vehicle was also improved to cater to both the on-road and off-road performance.

Land Rover Defender 2007 offers a new 2.4-litre diesel engine from Ford to increase torque at the same time improve the driveability. Its 6-speed gearbox offers a reduced first gear ratio for better off-road maneuvering. On one hand, the sixth gear is also improved for cruising sophistication. Defender's interior was also given a fresh fascia. New seats also improve comfort of both the driver and the passengers.

Defender also gets the new integrated dashboard and an improved heating and aircon system. These modifications are aimed at improving the mighty off-road Defender at the same time to add a bit more refinement.

The major change in Defender Land Rover parts is the TD5 engine. Modifications like upgrading sound insulation, and accessories were made to make Defender a little refined than its earlier versions. Moreover, Defender's architecture was retained. It still has with 90, 110 and 130 wheelbase versions supporting different bespoke derivatives.

According to Phil Popham , managing director of Land Rover, "we're building on Defender's success with a package of improvements that will extend its off-road abilities even further, while transforming on-road refinement and comfort. These changes represent a significant vote of confidence in a product which is the foundation of Land Rover's reputation for off-road excellence; we believe these enhancements will win the hearts and minds of new and existing customers alike."

Dave Saddington, Defender chief designer summarizing the changes said, "Defender's timeless exterior has become synonymous with functional design. Every line and surface seems to be linked to the vehicle's extraordinary capability, so we deliberately changed very little.
