DuPont Extends Partnership with BMW Sauber

At the ongoing 2007 Formula One season, the BMW Sauber Formula One Team is currently third on the Constructor’s Championship and so far has been showing a more or less good performance. The team has recorded four fourth place finishes after four races in the season. And with the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix posing a big challenge for them, a big boost in the team’s morale came in the announcement by DuPont that they will be extending their sponsorship of the Formula One team.

The world’s second largest chemical company will now be an official sponsor of the Formula One team. The relationship between the team and the chemical company started a year ago on May 2006 when DuPont became a promotional partner of the Formula One team.

Following the announcement, Mario Theissen, the BMW Motorsports Director is visibly pleased with the development. “We are delighted with this extended involvement and with the research exchange we have enjoyed so far with DuPont,” said Theissen. “We will continue to steadily develop our strategic partnership,” he added in conclusion.

Meanwhile, Ian Hudson, the president of DuPont Europe, Middle East and Africa, has this to say: “Through innovation and science, DuPont helps the BMW Sauber Team keep their drivers and team safer, as well as increase the cars' looks and performance. Many DuPont materials and applications used throughout the car demonstrate our position as a strong partner to the automotive industry. We are looking forward to extending our cooperation with the BMW Sauber F1 team on many fronts in the future.”

Currently, BMW Sauber is getting ready for the fifth race of the season which will be held at the city streets of Monte Carlo. Considered the most prestigious race of the Formula One season, the Monaco Grand Prix will see the two drivers for BMW Sauber - Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica - looking for a better performance and even possibly a podium finish. It can be remembered that in the last race, the Spanish Grand Prix, Heidfeld was forced to retire due to a gearbox problem although other components are working well from the engine to the BMW’s exhaust tip. This problem has already been fixed and Heidfeld looks as if he is ready to finish the Monaco race, possibly within the top three. With the sponsorship already in the bag and their cars already prepped for the race, BMW Sauber is expected to give a good performance at the Monaco race after Renault, Toyota and Williams are all gunning for the third spot that they currently hold.
