Mercedes Fan Blades—A Breathe of Fresh Air for the Engine

It has been noted that the Mercedes Benz has a mean engine, with top speeds of 300km/h that could only be a walk in the park on the Autobahn. But in the heat of things, it must be cooled down at times. Just like the engine, it must have an efficient cooling system to prevent overheating. Factors to be considered are the coolant and the radiator.

The coolant absorbs the heat form the engine, while the radiator dissipates heat. But the catalyst would be the radiator fan, for without it the radiator won’t perform as it is design to do. Then, a malfunctioning cooling system will trigger a chain reaction of damage to the engine caused by overheating.

Also referred to as a condenser fan or the automotive fan, the radiator fan draws air outside to the radiator, which makes the radiator have an easier time to dissipate heat. Usually, more than one fan is mounted in the vehicle, with the fan installed just behind the radiator. Additional electric fans are mounted to cool the A/C condenser and other engine and A/C parts.

Fan assembly comprises of parts like the fan motor, fan belt, fan clutch, fan shrouds, amongst others. But the one responsible for conveying the air to the radiator to cool down is the Mercedes fan blade. It projects at an angle from the central hub. These blades are curved very much like a propeller as they draw air through the radiator.

Different specifications are ready for the perusal of a Benz owner. Blade configurations vary, with blades ranging from four to eleven-blade set-ups. Usually, these fan blades are made of high-grade plastic. So it is not uncommon to see cracks and other kinds of deformities it develops in the long run. Better have it checked regularly. Otherwise, the radiator won’t be able to dissipate the heat resulting to an overheated engine. Have them replaced through auto dealerships and online auto sites. There you could find a host of different types of Mercedes fan blades to choose from to maintain a cooling effect on the engine.
