Mini Canada has recently announced that they will be launching a new MINI model in the first quarter of 2008. The MINI Clubman as what BMW lovingly called it, is expected to expand the MINI brand family with the introduction of the two versions based on the legendary “shooting brake” classics, the Morris Mini Traveller---the Austin Mini Countryman and the Mini Clubman Estate.
The new MINI Cooper S Clubman will be given with the new MINI four-cylinder gasoline engine with twin-scroll turbocharger and direct fuel injection which was first introduced in the new MINI Cooper S last February this year. The new MINI Cooper S has the capacity of 1598cc, revving up 172 horsepower at 5500 rpm with maximum torque of 177 lb-ft at 1600 to 5000 rpm which gives it the performance and the right to bear the “S” badge.
The new MINI four-cylinder gasoline engine has a variable valve management that is based on BMW’s VALVETRONIC technology which was also first launched on the new MINI Cooper. The Clubman has the capacity of 1598cc and has an output of 118 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 114 lb-ft at 4,250 rpm.
The Clubdoor
The MINI Clubman is undeniably a MINI. Its lengthy roofline that stretched over the three pillars and longer cabin that integrates smoothly to form the striking rear quarters rounded up by the two rear-opening doors with unique attaching mechanisms.
For the MINI Clubman the roof finished in body color is offered as an option with the upper section finished in contrasting Silver or Black paintwork which creates the striking look of the rear door frame on all versions of the MINI Clubman.
The split-door rear configuration of the MINI Clubman also called the Clubdoor is part of its signature design making it a unique five-door model. The Clubdoor, which is a second, handle-free door behind the right front door, provides access to the rear seats. And for security and safety reasons, the Clubdoor can only be opened when the corresponding front door is also open.
30 Combinations of Paintwork
The MINI Clubman offers 30 combinations of exterior paintwork which provides car owners with more options to customize their MINI. Aside from the great selection of exterior paintworks there are also a wide range of accessories, auto components like for instance a KN air filter as well as other special equipment that may added to customize the MINI Clubman.
And that’s not all, Hot Chocolate which is an emotional metallic color is exclusively offered for the Clubman. This special color is very classy especially with silver frames around the rear and with the roof finished in the body color.
The MINI Clubman will be made available in the first quarter of 2008. Details on the specifications and pricing are to be announced close to its market launch.
